Salamanca CCSD is pleased to announce that Mitchel Schnaufer has been selected to the 2023 NYSSMA Conference All-State Symphony Orchestra. He participated in a concert held at the acclaimed Eastman Theatre in Rochester, NY during the annual Winter Conference of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) which was held from Nov. 11 – Dec. 3, 2023.
Mitchel, a senior bassoonist, has been selected for All-State Symphony Orchestra and has been performing for nine years. He has studied privately with Paul Furlong and has been involved in Concert Band, Jazz Band, Pep-Band, Pit Orchestra, and Tri-M at Salamanca for 6 years. Mitchel was also placed as the principal bassoon player for the orchestra, something determined based on seating auditions for all who were selected for the ensemble.
“Mitchel’s exceptional talent and dedication has earned him this prestigious designation and opportunity to perform at the NYSSMA All-State Conference,” said Daryl Warren, Salamanca’s High School band director. “The hard work and dedication demanded by their craft is evident. He has been, and continues to be an excellent representative of our music department.”
NYSSMA, the New York State School Music Association, is the largest state affiliate of the National Association for Music Education.
