LIBERTY PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM AT JCC

Jamestown Community Collegeโ€™s Liberty Partnerships program (LPP) supports middle and high school students completing high school and preparing for college through a grant from the New York State Education Department. Weโ€™re here to help with academic support, personal learning plans, leadership goals, college preparedness, and service learning.

JCC has four on-site LPP navigators at our three partner schools: Dunkirk City School District, Jamestown Public Schools, and Salamanca City School District.

We also partner with Chautauqua Leadership Network (CLN), a local organization dedicated to supporting community leaders. CLN members visit our partner schools, introducing LPP participants to many career paths and leadership skills.

I invite your child to participate in the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP), a unique opportunity that will be available right at Salamanca High School and Seneca Intermediate School. LPP is an initiative developed in 1988 by the New York State Education Department to offer support to middle and high school students (5-12th grade) with the goal of not only seeing each LPP participant to graduation, but also assisting the student in acquiring the skills necessary to be college ready.

LPP is partnered up with Jamestown Community College and this collaboration will provide resources and opportunities that expand and enrich your childโ€™s educational journey. Some of these include, but are not limited to: career exploration activities, on-site tutoring services, invitations to on-campus events, college visits and opportunities for community service learning. This program will also place high value on the parent/guardian component and will offer invitations for you to join in many of the activities.

Alex Kyler is the LPP Navigator for Salamanca schools. As the LPP Navigator, her goal is to partner with you and your child to provide a tailored program of support that breaks down any barriers standing in the way of a successful middle/high school journey. She will create a Personal Learning Plan with your child based on data gathered from many sources, including academic and attendance records, teacher reports, and most importantly, many unique self-reporting measures. This will assist her in identifying and maximizing your childโ€™s strengths, while offering support in areas of need. The most important goal is to develop a strong relationship with your child and be a visible presence throughout the school day.
