Student Responsibility
It is encouraged that students learn to be an advocate for themselves taking full responsibility for their work assignments and having direct communication with their teachers.
Students are encouraged to check their PowerSchool grades frequently.
Assignments that are turned in last minute risk the chance of not being assessed immediately based on the availability of the teacher.
This may affect the eligibility of the student and their ability to participate.
If a studentโs (8-12 grade) who have turned in the worked required and the teacher or staff member is or has been absent or not available to adjust ELOC status, students are encouraged to speak with Mr. Siebert for the best course of action.
7th grade students with the above issue should talk to Ms Barrie.
Students will need to listen to Warrior Vision announcements, check the school website, check their school email in regard to forth coming
Information regarding ELOC requirements for things such as: class trips, homecoming, prom and other school functions.
Coaches and Advisor Responsibilities
Initial Rosters need to be submitted to Mrs. Lafferty-John and Mr. Levi Sponeybarger, alphabetically by last name (no nicknames) including grade level.
If you have changes in your roster (new additions or deletions) as the season goes on, please submit changes and notify the above persons.
Coaches and advisors have the discretion to make alternative eligibility policies that are more restrictive.
A clear written policy that has been communicated to students and parents for agreement and sign off is needed.
Please notify Mr. Bartoszek, Mrs. Lafferty-John, Mr. Siebert, Mr. Long, Ms. Barrie, Mrs. Beaver, and Mrs. Magara with this information as well.
When a student is on the ELOC ineligible list, Coaches/Advisors must get written confirmation from the classroom teacher that the student is now eligible for their class or look on PowerSchool for confirmation the student has a 65 or better.
Written confirmation can be attained through emailed, hand note, PowerSchool or text.
Please do not allow ineligible players to participate in contests until they are cleared by teacher and the ELOC coordinator.
I will share my personal cell with Coaches in a separate email for convenience.
Teacher Responsibility
eachers need to have a minimum of 4 grades to put a student on the ELOC list at any point in the school year.
If your grades are calculated prior to having a total of 4 grades, you will need to go in PowerSchool/Schoology and override/ change the grade to a 65 manually to take student off the ELOC list.
If ELOC list has been pulled and you do NOT have 4 grades and forgot to override grades please contact Laurie Lafferty-John to avoid students being listed on the ELOC list for your class.
When a student has completed assignments and meets your expectations for good academic standing, please notify immediately Laurie Lafferty-John and coach/advisor if possible.
This communication will be directed to the Coach/Advisor as soon as possible.
As a teacher, there may be situations that you choose NOT to put a student on ELOC even if they are failing after 4 grades.
In this situation, log into PowerSchool/Schoology and override the grade with a 65. It can be changed later to reflect actual grade.
There may be unforeseen circumstances (traumatic events) that have put a student in a difficult situation causing them to miss school for long periods of time or affecting them from having the ability to focus on school work.
Example: a student who has experienced a death in the family or other tragic events that you as a teacher feel in fairness that more time is needed before there is academic consequences.
