Special Education Supports

The Salamanca City Central School District takes part in two Special Education grants through the NYS Education Department: Section 611 & Section 619. 

Section 611 Sub-Grant Program

  • The Section 611 Sub-Grant Program is authorized under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, Part B) for students ages 5-21 (with flow through funds including children ages 3-5).  The administration of the program is governed by section 611(a)(2)(A) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-446).

Section 619 Sub-Grant Program

  • The Section 619 Sub-Grant Program is authorized under IDEA, Part B services students ages 3-5 receiving services through the committee of preschool special education. The administration of this program is governed by section 619(c) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-446).

Both grants run from July 1 to June 30th of the school year.

The Office of Special Education is responsible for a wide range of educational programs and works closely with parents, early care and education agencies, schools, and state agencies to coordinate programs and resources with the goal of making New York’s special education supports and learning system as comprehensive and seamless as possible.

The use of funds falls under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act – Section 1413(a)(2).

How you can help:

  • Take part in our Zoom meetings

    • Especially between June and August when the grant is in process for the following year

  • Bring ideas to your administrators for future years

  • Recommended parents and/or students to come to Zoom meetings and participate

  • 12/1/22

  • 2/9/23

  • 5/25/23
