This notice serves to inform you of your rights regarding school records in accordance with the Federal "Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974."
Any student who is 18 years or older, as well as the parent(s) or legal guardian of any student under 18 years old, have the right to inspect and review all official records, files, and data directly related to students. This includes all materials within each student’s cumulative record folder, whether intended for internal school use or for external parties.
Parents, legal guardians, and students also have the right to request a hearing to challenge the contents of these records if they believe them to be inaccurate, misleading, or violating the privacy or other rights of the students. This hearing provides an opportunity for correction or deletion of any such inappropriate data.
For inquiries about the procedure for requesting a hearing, individuals should contact the principal of the respective school or the superintendent.
Under this law, there are restrictions on releasing or using student records or any contained material to anyone other than the parents, legal guardians, students, or school district employees without written consent.
Exceptions to this rule include certain school district employees and specific state and federal officials who require access for legitimate educational purposes.
