The Salamanca City Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Edelmiro Cruz as the new High School Assistant Principal. A Buffalo native with a unique blend of urban spirit and country heart, Mr. Cruz brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for education to our community.
Mr. Cruz and his family have spent over 15 summers at Allegany Mountain Resort in East Otto and now call Ellicottville their home. He has been happily married for over 30 years and is a proud grandfather to a beautiful one-year-old. His educational background is impressive, with a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Buffalo State College and two master's degrees from the University at Buffalo—one in educational administration and the other in school business and human resource management.
His journey in education began during his high school years with the Buffalo Police Prevention and Education program. Since then, Mr. Cruz has taught ESL, NLA, and Spanish and has held the role of assistant principal for a significant part of his career. Most recently, he contributed to the CABOCES learning resources department and taught at RISE Academy.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Cruz is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, target shooting, ATV riding, and snowmobiling.
Mr. Cruz is eager to become an integral part of the Salamanca community. He looks forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, and residents and is extremely excited about the opportunity to learn and grow with the Warrior Family.
