Salamanca CCSD is pleased to announce the launch of its third, annual FAA Part 107 Drone Flight Institute.
FREE For Salamanca Residents, First Responders & City Employees
Drones give city officials the ability to inspect large swatches of land or infrastructure, without putting the lives of the operators at risk. By sending a UAV into a situation that would be dangerous for a person, like a chimney or a cell phone tower, operators are able to collect visual data about the condition of an asset without having to expose themselves to potential harm. Likewise, first responders and search and rescue teams can use drones to quickly assess a situation and provide up-to-date information to those on the ground. However, under the FAA's Small UAS Rule (Part 107), commercial pilots must obtain a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA, which demonstrates their understanding the regulations, operating requirements, and procedures for safely flying drones. This Part 107 test prep class is designed for prospective drone pilots, and others working in industry and law enforcement required to fly drones, who are looking to become FAA Part 107 Remote Pilots.
