This past weekend, the Salamanca Wrestling Team wrapped up their season at the Section 6 Sectional Championships at Fredonia State College.
🔥 Kasen Hardy battled to a 5th place finish, going 4-2 on the weekend!
💪 Conner Seeley and Thomas George also secured wins for Salamanca.
With that, the 2023-24 wrestling season comes to a close—one filled with historic firsts for the program:
👩🎤 Girls Team Milestones:
✅ First year with a separate girls’ competition schedule (6 tournaments, 6 duals).
✅ Earned their first-ever girls’ dual win, finishing 1-8 overall.
✅ 6 girls competed this season, with 3 qualifying for the first-ever NYS sanctioned sectionals.
🥉 Maelonnee Bacelli made history as Salamanca’s first NYS sectional place finisher, taking 4th place!
🤼 Boys Varsity Team Achievements:
📈 Moved up from last place in the league standings to 3rd place, securing 3 league wins.
🔥 Finished the season with 6 dual meet victories.
🏆 Hosted the first Salamanca wrestling tournament in over 9 years, named in honor of Coach Rich Morton.
💪 Two wrestlers earned back-to-back 20+ win seasons:
Kasen Hardy (26 wins)
Conner Seeley (23 wins)
🏅 Six wrestlers hit double-digit wins, with three more just shy at 9 wins!
The future is bright for Salamanca Wrestling! With everyone returning and new talent joining, we can’t wait to see what’s in store next season.
