WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPALS:

Kim Oakes Principal

Mrs. Kimberly Oakes

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year Prospect families!  I am honored and excited to go into my fourth year at our Prospect Elementary School.  I am committed to our students, staff and the community.  We have created strong, positive working relationships with our families, and we strive to continue to do so.  We plan to continue to send monthly communications home to families as well this year.  Working together we will further support our children in becoming the best that they can be and maximizing their potential.

This year we will continue to instill a love of learning in our children, create opportunities for families to engage in the school setting, and design high quality learning opportunities.  Our dedicated staff have engaged in professional development throughout the summer and will continue to do so during the year.  Our goal is to learn, reflect, and grow so we can be the best we can be for our children.

Some specific areas we will continue to focus on this year include literacy, math, science, positive attendance at school, social emotional skills, diversified studies and experiential opportunities to name a few.  We plan to add in additional student celebrations throughout the year as well.  We want them to be proud of their accomplishments!

We are excited to be a part of these critical years.  Thank you in advance for your support and partnership.  Please join us for our Prospect community picnic on Tuesday, August 27th from 5:00-6:30pm as we kick off the 2024-25 school year.

It is going to be a great school year!

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Prospect Elementary!

As we embark on this new year together, I am thrilled to share that this will be my second year serving as your Assistant Principal! As I reflect on last year, I am filled with pride and gratitude for the incredible strides our students and staff have made, and I am eager to continue building on this foundation of learning and excellence. Our dedicated teachers, staff, and I are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are dedicated to fostering a love of learning and a spirit of curiosity in every student. As always, we value your partnership and look forward to working closely with you. This year, we are continuing to increase the number of opportunities for families to attend our school. We encourage you to engage with our school community, attend events, and communicate regularly with your child’s teachers. I am grateful for the relationships we have built and the work we will continue to do, together. Let's make this school year one filled with achievement, joy, and memorable moments. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education, and here’s to another wonderful year at Prospect Elementary! Go Warriors!

Dropping Off and Picking Up Students:

The school day for Prospect students is from 8:20-3:20. Students are tardy at 8:30. Buses will drop students off between 8:05-8:20 this year. We are fortunate to be able to offer early morning supervision again this year. Students can be dropped off starting at 7:30. Children will have the option to have breakfast at this time or free play.

Parent Drop Off: If you choose to drop your child off at school, please follow the directions of the safety monitors outside. When you come down Prospect Avenue, you will turn right into the parent drop off loop. Please pull all the way forward in the loop. It is helpful if your child sits in the rear passenger seat. Staff will then safely assist your child in getting out of the vehicle. Please avoid pulling out and passing vehicles that are unloading in the parent drop off loop. Parents need to use the parent drop off loop in the morning. Please do not pull up to the front of the school during bus arrival time. If your child is arriving late, after 8:30, an adult will need to walk the child in to sign them in for the day.

Parent Pick Up: If you plan on picking your child up daily, at the end of the day, please come to the parent pick up loop and line up. Pull all the way to the front of the line. Someone will come to your car to get your child’s name and we will bring your child out to you. It is helpful if you stay in your vehicle and if your child is seated in the rear passenger seat. Please avoid pulling out and passing vehicles that are waiting for their child. Traffic cones will be set out to prevent cars from passing other vehicles. This becomes a safety concern as other cars may be loading children. If there is a dismissal change, please send a note into school with your child on that day. Those notes will go to the office, and we will notify appropriate staff.

STUDENT RECORDS

If you have any changes in your child’sregistration information, please contact the office immediately. We need to have current phone numbers (including cell phone numbers), emergency numbers, addresses, pick-up and drop-off bus information. If someone other than the parent is going to pick the student up, please let the office know. The office will ask the person for proper identification prior to releasing the student. If you have custody papers or any other document from court, please be sure that we have a copy of the most current orders.
